Tiong Bahru 2015

Tiong Bahru, one of Singapore oldest public housing. Despite the rise in the number of hipster cafes and restaurants, one is still able to find that nostalgic feel in the neighborhood.

Almost ran over a python on Tanglin Road. Luckily I was riding upslope and nearly out of breath so there’s is no damage done. This reminds me to keep my eyes wide open and never assume that the road is always safe.

A recumbent bicycle and 2 x CarryMe showed up today, Sunday rides can’t get more exciting! We are also getting a lot of MTB today. Unfortunately Botanic Garden does not allow cycling, it would have been a perfect start.

First stop, Dempsy Hill. The chic nightspot has a different outlook in the early morning. The Dome Cafe seems like a good place for breakfast, this place is definitely worth a second visit. Breakfast at Margaret Drive Food Market followed by a tour around this old estate. Do you know Queenstown was the first satellite town in Singapore?

Next was a ride around one of the oldest estate in Singapore, Tiong Bahru Estate. You would have notice how easy it is to cycle around this estate. They have the widest corridor and pavements. For those staying on ground floor, the additional backyard space is a real bonus. Technically a wheelchair friendly estate is also a bicycle friendly one.

The final stop was Tanjong Pagar Railway Station or rather a hidden part of it. There are lots of photo opportunities here and it is a pity all will be gone soon. Another great Sunday ride.

Road Obstacle @ Tanglin Rd, on the way to Botanic Garden.

Unfortunately Botanic Garden is a no cycle zone.

Briefing by Taiwoon before we move off.

Morning @ Dempsy Hill. Basically a dead town at this time. Lots of place to explore.

Breakfast @ Margaret Road Mkt. One of the best fishball noodle I ever had. Thanks to Francis for showing the stall.

Houses @ Tiong Bahru Road. The corridors are wide enough for us to pass thru. You will find that this estate is so wheel chair friendly.

Cannot resist but to Kapo Taiwoon's blog banner idea! A weathered green color house for my Green Dahon, can't me more perfect.

@ Tamjong Pagar Railway. Never got to venture this far. This is really a hidden gem.

Foldy on a train to visit nearby Malaysia Towns sound very feasible.

Have Bicycle will bond.
