Tapah to Ipoh
Distance : 55Km
The final and most relaxed day of cycling. We had a BIG breakfast set at the hotel Cafe! Surprisingly, Patrick and KC has overslept! Must be due to their VIP suite!
Today’s route was pretty scenic as ridges lined the horizon. Along the roadside, there are lots of stalls selling durians, rambutans and other fruits! We settled for a break at a small cafe in front of a limestone cave. This happen to be a family run shop that Patrick has patronized in a previous ride. I can see that the husband and wife was happy to see us and they even brought us a durain to go with our tea! That’s the true hospitality of Kampung people.
We reach Ipoh at 12noon! Average Car speed on the main road are surprisingly slow. That enables us to filter with ease! Our Hotel is situated at the New Town area. Again big clean room with super spacious toilet!
After we unpacked our stuff, Patrick brought us for half day city tour. Separated by the river, Ipoh is divided into the Old and New Town. Most of the heritage stuff are located in the old town. Lunch was at the famous Lou Wong for their Ngar Choi Kai(Steamed Chicken with Beansprouts). Next was the beancurd and soyabean milk from a corner stall, Funny Mountain Soya Bean 奇峰! Smooth as silk is the only phrase to describe it! Beside human queue, there is also a car queue where the drinks are served and sold to the drivers and their passengers!
As nite falls, we return again to Jalan Yau Tet Shin area for dinner and shopping at the night bazaar. Later that nite, Chan (who is David Eng friend) brought us for another round of supper!
Today marks the end of our 5 day expedition to Ipoh. Although we are faced with some challenges, we are also blessed with good weather and lots of luck! Next trip, it will be all the way to Penang!
